| Welcome to Hittin' The Web with The Allman Brothers Band |
Welcome, to Hittin' the Web with the Allman Brothers Band!
The Allman Brothers Band have a 41 year tradition of blending the new and the old... playing the songs that stir our souls because they bring back so many great memories, casting classic blues tunes in a new light, and then hitting us with something completely fresh and new that is destined to become a classic.
And the band has a history of being more than a musical experience - it's a family experience! And that extends to this website. So come here to learn about shows and CD's - but also come here to become part of our big, worldwide, Peachy Extended Family! Welcome!!
What's Shakin'?
Congratulations Derek Trucks Band on winning the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album - Already Free!!
In what has become a rite of passage and annual destination for fans of the Allman Brothers Band, the iconic and revered group will return to New York City in March 2010 for a lengthy residency beginning March 11, with thirteen shows confirmed (March 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 25, 26 and 27), just as they have since 1989. 2010 marks a change of venue for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group: they’re taking their act uptown to the 3200-capacity United Palace Theatre (formerly known as the 175th Street Theatre) in lieu of the Beacon Theatre which is unable to host the ABB due to a 2010 scheduling conflict. Tickets for these dates are on sale via www.ticketmaster.com.
In 2009, the group kicked off their 40th anniversary tour with 15 shows at the Beacon Theatre and, as they always have, hosted a wide variety of special guest musicians. Paying homage to the group’s late co-founder Duane Allman, the band were joined onstage by the likes of Eric Clapton (two nights), Grateful Dead co-founders Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, members of Phish and Widespread Panic as well as Bruce Hornsby, Sheryl Crow, Boz Scaggs, Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph, Levon Helm, Johnny Winter, Susan Tedeschi, Chuck Leavell, the Asbury Jukes horn section, Bruce Willis, Kid Rock and others. As David Sprague of Daily Variety noted in his review, “The Allman Brothers' annual March run at Gotham's Beacon Theater has become something of a harbinger of spring, bringing with it a palpable sense of renewal…that sweet interlude soon gave way to a surprisingly fierce, intriguingly dark batch of standards that underscored the fact that the earliest version of the ensemble was called the Allman Brothers Blues Band for a very good reason (3/10/09).” This year’s harbinger of spring commences in early March at the United Palace at 175th Street and Broadway.
The Allman Brothers Band will be appearing at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Sunday, April 25. Their set time is TBA. Tickets are on sale NOW via the JazzFest web site. To purchase them, and get further information, click here.
The Wanee Music Festival will be held Friday April 16th through Saturday April 17th 2010 at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL with the "Wanee Kick-Off Party” held on Thursday, April 15th. For more information be sure to check out the Wanee web site.
Gov't Mule's new CD "By A Thread" is now available. It is the band's 8th studio album and first with bassist Jorgen Carlsson. The rock single "Broke Down On The Brazos" features Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top on guitar. "Frozen Fear," the AA single, is getting great airplay and is steadily climbing the charts. "By A Thread" is a great album by a great band. You can purchase a copy online right

15-Show 2009 Beacon Theatre Run Released | The Allman Brothers Band Announces the Release of
Their 15-Show 2009 Beacon Theatre Run
To commemorate their 40th anniversary, The Allman Brothers Band is releasing a Beacon Box live CD package, capturing all 15 sold-out shows from the group’s March 2009 stand at the venerable Beacon Theatre in New York City. This is the first time the band has made CDs available from their annual visits to New York, which date back to 1989 and includes 188 consecutive sold-out shows at the Beacon. Individual shows will be available as well. Delivery of these legendary concerts has already started and all are expected to be in stock by mid November at www.hittinthenote.com.
This run was dedicated to the memory of Duane Allman, seminal guitarist and founder of the band, and to help celebrate Duane’s legacy, 62 special guests shared the stage with the Allman Brothers Band. The list includes a “Who’s Who” of rock, jazz and jams greats, including Levon Helm, Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy, Boz Scaggs, Johnny Winter, Sheryl Crow, Widespread Panic’s Jimmy Herring and John Bell, Kid Rock, Billy Gibbons, Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas, Bob Margolin, Phish’s Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell, Chuck Leavell, Jimmy Hall, Susan Tedeschi, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and many others. Also appearing for two nights with the band was the inimitable Eric Clapton, who teamed with Duane Allman to record Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs in 1970, considered by many critics to be the finest guitar album of all time. This marked the first occasion that Clapton had played with the Allman Brothers Band in a public setting.
The fact that the band performed at its considerable best in its 40th year is a remarkable testament to the talents of this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group. All the magic of their timeless classics, newer tunes and spectacular cover songs shines through on the Beacon Box live CD package. The 15 historical shows, containing 100 different songs, will be packaged in a custom-made, hand-crafted, serial numbered box and will have the Beacon Theatre’s marquee silkscreened across the front. In addition to the Beacon concerts, this box set will include a special bonus performance of the Allman Brothers Band at Warren Haynes’ 20th Annual Christmas Jam, which occurred in December of 2008. Also included in the box set edition will be a CD booklet with liner notes, set list and exclusive photos taken during the run by ABB Tour Mystic, Kirk West. Shows are available on an individual basis as well, so take advantage of this once in a lifetime offer to savor a once in a lifetime event. Please visit www.hittinthenote.com. for set list, show descriptions and ordering info.

Their May through September 2009 shows
We would like to remind everyone that all the ABB shows from May to September are in stock right now at www.hittinthenote.com and all of the CDs from the October shows should arrive within 4 weeks of the show date. Two of the greatest live bands of all time joined forces for a legendary tour that people will tell their grandchildren about! Besides the guys from Widespread, ABB alumnus Jack Pearson and jamband icon Col. Bruce Hampton also guested during this run, among many others.
In addition to offering the individual shows, HTN will also be producing a West Best (6 shows for the price of 5) and West Best El Grande package (12 shows for the price of 10) plus a 40th Anniversary 2009 Summer Box Set that will include all shows from May through October and complement the 2009 Beacon Box Set in style and design. You will be able to apply 2009 summer tour concerts purchased from Hittin’ the Note towards the price of the West Best packages and the 2009 Summer Set Box. Stay tuned for more details!

Besides being a part of the Allman Brothers Band's rhythmic foundation for 40 years, Jaimoe has a nearly limitless musical appetite that includes jazz, blues and R&B.
When he is not on the road with the ABB, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band is his primary vehicle for exploring other aspects of his muse. Featuring excellent players like Jay Collins of Gregg Allman and Friends, David Stoltz, and guitar slinger and vocalist Junior Mack, this is a very talented band. Playing mainly in his home state of Connecticut, these gigs have become a special treat for New England Peach-heads. For years we have had people asking if this outstanding ensemble would ever release a CD...and now they have - two, double CDs in fact! Click here for song samples and to find out more!
Susan Tedeschi has a new CD - Back To The River - that our friends at Hittin' the Note have in stock - click here to listen to song samples and to order.
The Derek Trucks Band also has a new CD Pre-sale going on with very cool raffle prizes and giveaways. Click here to find out more!
GREAT NEWS! We have an answer to your question "when is the next archival release coming?" It's here now! There's a new release available featuring the original ABB lineup playing at the Boston Common August 17, 1971. Recorded just five months after the historic Fillmore East shows, this gem includes "Statesboro Blues," "Trouble No More," "Don't Keep Me Wonderin'," a 26 minute "You Don't Love Me," Berry's vocals on "Hoochie Coochie Man," "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed," and a riveting and unusual "Whipping Post" finale. You can buy it at the Beacon shows or click to order it online.
Scratchin' your head about how to brighten someone's day? Do we ever have a cure for the blues! It's a sure bet that someone you care about would like an Allman Brothers Band CD or DVD they don't have. Come see all the CDs and DVDs and more at Hittin' the Note and we are sure you will find something for all your music-loving friends!
The first ABB archive release, American University, 12/13/70, another superb early recording and ABB manager Bert Holman's first show, is back in stock! The second ABB archive release, SUNY at Stonybrook, 9/19/71, contains one of the best “Dreams” ever captured on tape and a rare “Blue Sky” with Duane! Recorded just weeks prior to Duane’s untimely passing, this one will surely make you sit up and listen to the growth of the band in its short run to that point. The third ABB archive, Macon, 2/11/72, captures the intense spirit and determination the "5-man band era" showed as they regrouped following the loss of their leader, Duane Allman. Many of your friends here at HTW heard the band during this extremely emotional era and found healing in the music, including members of the ABB themselves. A rare glimpse into that time can be found on this CD.
The fourth archival release from the Allman Brothers Band features the same lineup that recorded the legendary Brothers and Sisters album, with new members Chuck Leavell and Lamar Williams. Nassau Coliseum, 5/1/73 is another proud addition to this line of great archival shows from the Allman Brothers Band. This particular incarnation was often referred to as the “best damn band in the land,” and for good reason. Such ABB gems as “Jessica,” “Come and Go Blues,” “Ramblin’ Man,” and “Wasted Words,” plus a cool “Mountain Jam” are highlights of this outstanding recording. In addition, old chestnuts are revamped to fit the current lineup – this one is a keeper for sure!

The Allman Brothers Band are "Hittin' the Note" |
The Allman Brothers Band has released their first new release in nine years. Titled "Hittin' the Note" the 11 cut CD kicks off with "Firing Line," and grows through the heartache intensity of "Desdemona," the reflective delicacy of "Old Before My Time," the alternating blues feel and funky strut of the Freddy King cover "Woman Across the River," the sizzling roadhouse shuffle of "Maydell," and the breathtaking virtuosity on tracks that range from the intimate acoustic slide dialog of "Old Friend" to the trademark extended jam "Instrumental Illness," a burnin' twelve-minute marathon. There’s also an inspired blues version of the Rolling Stones’ “Heart of Stone,” which the Allman Brothers Band definitely put their stamp on. Gregg Allman describes "Hittin' the Note" as "the best album we've made since Eat a Peach.” For Media Reviews of "Hittin' the Note" click here. The CD was released March 18 on the band's own Peach Records in partnership with Sanctuary Records, and is available in stores everywhere and at the Beacon shows.(for more information see the press release below)

| The Beacon is Booked, so the ABB Will Move | By: Dave Itzkoff
For: The New York Times
No rock ’n’ roll tradition lasts forever. Bob Dylan plugged in his guitar. Kiss (temporarily) washed off its face paint. And now the Allman Brothers Band is leaving the Beacon Theater.
On Tuesday night the Allman band, whose annual routine of residencies at that Upper West Side theater once seemed as permanent as the bathroom-wall graffiti at CBGB, announced that when it came to New York in March, it would not appear at the Beacon, where it has played 190 shows over the past 20 years.
Instead the band will perform at the United Palace Theater in Washington Heights, having lost its longtime Manhattan home to another group.
“Cirque du Soleil came and bought it out from under us,” Gregg Allman, the band’s singer and keyboard player, said in a telephone interview.
“It’s a drag,” Mr. Allman added. “But one monkey don’t stop no show.”

| Allman Band at the Beacon | By: Alan Light
For: The New York Times
Michael Springer’s vacation starts on Monday. As usual, though, he won’t be traveling far from his home in Valley Stream, Long Island. For most of the next three weeks, he and his wife will be spending their evenings in Manhattan, taking part in one of the city’s most curious rites of spring: the Allman Brothers Band’s annual run of shows at the Beacon Theater.
Since 1989 the Allman band has played at the Beacon 175 times — and Mr. Springer, 51, has been at every concert. This month he’ll return (to the same seat, next to the lighting board) for 15 more shows as the band settles into the newly refurbished Beacon through March 28.
“My boss thinks I’m out of my mind,” said Mr. Springer, who works at an audio and video company and proposed to his wife during one of the 2005 shows. “I end up taking my vacation a few blocks from where I work. But year after year they continue to amaze me.”

| Moogis Comes Alive! | Five years ago Butch Trucks had a vision of how the Internet could bring the live concert experience into people's homes around the world, expanding the audience of a live concert to many thousands of music-loving fans.
But this would be more than just another streaming video service that didn't care about the content itself – it would be an extended community that felt that same magical bond that comes over a crowd during that roar of approval after a soaring solo.
Butch's vision was right on – but the technology at the time was limited, and it has taken enormous patience and persistence to get to the point where the experience could match the dream – but now, (sfx: huge drum roll!!) sisters and brothers, Moogis has arrived!!!
